Murphy Bed Installation + Custom Hand-Built Side Shelving

The Client’s Idea

A homeowner contacted us with a clear request:

✔ They had already purchased a Murphy bed.

✔ They wanted built-in shelves on both sides of it.

✔ They didn’t know the right dimensions, spacing, or how to integrate the shelves with the bed so everything looked balanced and functioned safely.

The client had the vision — they just needed a professional to make it all work together.

What We Actually Did

1. Installed the Store-Bought Murphy Bed

The Murphy bed was provided by the client.

Our job was to:

- correctly assemble it,

- secure the frame to the studs,

- ensure the mechanism opens and closes smoothly,

- check all safety points and load-bearing areas.

Proper installation is extremely important for Murphy beds, so we handled all the technical work.

2. Built the Side Shelves From Scratch

The shelves were NOT store-bought — they were fully custom-made by our handyman.

We handled the entire carpentry process:

We measured the wall, the Murphy bed frame, and the room layout to determine the best design.

Material Selection & Purchase

We chose quality lumber, picked it up, and delivered it to the home.

Cutting & Assembly

Every part of the shelves was:

- cut to precise dimensions,

- sanded,

- assembled onsite,

- reinforced for durability.

Installation

The shelving was securely mounted and perfectly aligned with the Murphy bed to create a built-in, symmetrical look.
