Typical steps for this job
The photos show the start and the finish; these are the usual steps in between:
- The umbrella base was set at the edge of the deck.
- The pole was assembled and locked into the base.
- The canopy arm was fitted to the pole.
- The canopy was opened and turned over the seating area.
Cantilever umbrellas catch a lot of wind; the base weight is what keeps them standing, so the base is filled or weighted before the canopy is opened. The umbrella arm is set so the shade falls on the seats at the time of day the deck is used most.
