Typical steps for this job
The photos show the start and the finish; these are the usual steps in between:
- The bracket was fixed to the ceiling box.
- The fan motor was hung and the wires connected to the existing ones.
- The canopy was closed against the textured ceiling.
- The three blades and the light kit were attached and the fan was switched on.
A ceiling fan needs a box rated for fan weight; a regular light box is not built for a turning load. This is work on existing wiring; a new circuit goes to a licensed electrician.
