- The doorway was checked for size and square.
- The door was hung on its hinges.
- The knob and the latch were fitted.
- The door was adjusted until it closed and latched.
Doors are sold in standard sizes, but openings drift. When the old frame is gone, a pre-hung door is often the cleaner option. The gap under an interior door is left on purpose: it lets air move between rooms and keeps the door clear of rugs.
