Typical steps for this job
The photos show the start and the finish; these are the usual steps in between:
- The old silicone was cut out with a utility blade.
- The corner was cleaned and dried.
- New silicone was applied along the joint.
- The seal was smoothed into the corner and left to cure.
A shower corner is where water sits longest, so it is usually the first seal to fail. Resealing early keeps the water out of the wall. Fresh silicone needs about a day before the shower is used; water on an uncured seal washes it out of the joint.
