A bathroom floor had an open toilet flange with tools and parts around it. The after photo shows a new white toilet in place against the tiled wall.
Typical steps for this job
The photos show the start and the finish; these are the usual steps in between:
- The flange was cleaned of the old seal.
- A new wax ring was set on the flange.
- The toilet was lowered and bolted down level.
- The water supply was connected and the toilet flushed to test it.
A toilet that rocks breaks its seal and leaks under the floor, so it is shimmed level before the bolts are tightened. The shut-off valve behind the toilet is checked too; a new toilet on an old, stuck valve is only half the job.
