Typical steps for this job
The photos show the start and the finish; these are the usual steps in between:
- The old boards were taken up.
- The frame underneath was checked before anything new went on.
- New gray boards were laid and fixed with even gaps.
- The board ends were trimmed to a straight line.
Outdoor decking needs gaps between the boards so rain drains and the boards can expand in the heat. A frame that is soft or rotten is replaced before new boards go on.
