Ceiling fans in Miami homes
Ceiling fans run most of the year in Miami, so they wear out: wobbling blades, a noisy motor, a light kit that stopped working, a dated fan the new owner wants gone. We replace ceiling fans, bathroom exhaust fans, light fixtures and chandeliers where there is already a box and wiring, and we repair the common ceiling fan problems.
Fan-rated box first. A fan is heavier than a light and it moves, so it must hang from a box marked for fan support. When you swap a light for a fan, we check the box before anything goes up; if it is not fan-rated, we tell you before we start.
Condo concrete ceilings. In condo towers the ceiling box sits in the concrete slab and its position cannot move. We hang the new fan or fixture where the box is.
Patios and lanais. A fan on a covered patio needs a damp- or wet-rated fan; in salt air near the beach, metal parts rust fast unless the fan is made for it.
What we do:
- Ceiling fan replacement and fan-light combos
- Ceiling fan repair: wobble, noise, pull chains, light kits, remote receivers
- Bathroom exhaust fan replacement on the existing opening
- Light fixtures, pendants and chandeliers

What we do not do — and who does
We are a handyman company, not electricians. We work on existing boxes and existing wiring only. Running a new circuit, adding a switch or a box where there was none, moving a box, panel work and outdoor wiring are jobs for an electrical contractor, and we tell you before we quote.
Ceiling fan repair
A wobbling fan usually needs its blade screws tightened and the blades balanced; a noisy one may have a loose canopy or a worn mounting bracket. A broken pull chain, a dead light kit or a failed remote receiver can be replaced. When the motor itself has failed, a new fan usually costs less than the repair.
Sizing and height
Blades should hang at least 7 feet above the floor. On an 8-foot ceiling that means a flush-mount (hugger) fan; on a high or sloped ceiling, a downrod. For a heavy chandelier, the box must be rated for its weight.

Ceiling Fan Installation in Miami — FAQ
How much does ceiling fan installation cost in Miami?
$100/hour with a 2-hour minimum ($200), the fan not included. One swap on a fan-rated box often fits inside the minimum, so add a second fan, a light fixture or other small jobs to the same visit; a list of several fits a flat Half Day ($399, 4 hours). Text a photo of the ceiling and the new fan to +1 (786) 788-8714.
Can you replace a light fixture with a ceiling fan?
Yes, if the box in the ceiling is rated for fan support and the wiring is already there. We check the box before installing; if it is not fan-rated, we tell you before we start.
Can you repair my ceiling fan instead of replacing it?
Often. Wobble, noise, a broken pull chain, a dead light kit or a failed remote receiver are usually fixable. If the motor has failed, replacing the fan is usually the better buy.
Do you install bathroom exhaust fans?
We replace an existing bathroom exhaust fan with a new one on the same opening, duct and wiring. A new fan where there was none needs new wiring and ducting, which is not our job.
Are you electricians?
No. Handyman Gold Hands is an insured, bonded handyman company. We replace fans, fixtures, switches and outlets on existing wiring; new circuits, new boxes, panel work and rewiring go to an electrical contractor.
