Accent Wall Installation: the short answer
Handyman Gold Hands builds accent walls: wood slat feature walls measured, cut and fixed edge to edge, with vertical LED strips if you want them, and painted accent walls with clean cut-in lines. Slat work is $100 per hour with a 2-hour minimum ($200). A painted accent wall is painting labor at $1.20 per square foot of painted surface, materials extra, with the same 2-hour minimum. Send a photo of the wall and you get the price before you book.
What's included
- Wood slat feature walls: panels measured against the wall, cut to height and fixed edge to edge with the slats kept vertical
- Vertical LED light strips set between the slats, with the power supply and outlet planned before the first panel goes up
- Painted accent walls: floor and baseboard protected, corners and ceiling edge cut in by brush, the wall rolled in the new color
- Deep colors over a light wall, usually in two coats
- Patching holes and priming the wall before panels or paint
- Framed prints hung on the finished wall
What we don't do: We install slat panels and paint that you choose, or that we pick up for you; we do not design custom millwork or build cabinetry from raw lumber.
How it works
- Send a photo. A photo of the wall with its width and height, and the panels or the paint color you chose. Tell us whether you want LED strips.
- Get the price. The dispatcher replies with a price: $100 per hour for slat work, painting labor per square foot for a painted wall. You approve it before the visit is booked.
- We build it. The technician measures, protects the floor, sets the first panel against a level line or cuts in the corners, finishes the wall and cleans up.
$100 per hour, 2-hour minimum ($200). A longer list fits a Half Day ($399, 4 hours) or Full Day ($749, 8 hours). Online payments add a 5% card processing fee; no sales tax.
What makes an accent wall look intentional
Slat panels show every bit of drift, so the first panel is set against a level line rather than against the corner. The LED power supply needs an outlet close to the wall, which is planned before the first panel goes up.
A deep color over a light one usually takes two coats, and the corner lines are what make a painted accent wall look intentional. Painting one wall is also a quick way to try a color before committing to a whole room.
Choose the wall the eye lands on first, such as the one behind a bed or a sofa, and keep the other walls light so the accent reads as a choice.

How long does an accent wall take?
A painted accent wall is a quick job and a deep color over a light wall usually takes two coats. A slat wall with LED strips takes longer, because the panels are cut and fixed one by one. The photo quote tells you the time before you book.
What should I have ready before the visit?
The slat panels or the paint, delivered; furniture moved away from the wall; and, for LED strips, an outlet close to the wall. Not bought yet? Send the photo first and we tell you what to buy.
Can you hang art or mount a TV on the finished wall?
Yes. Framed prints are part of the job. A TV is its own service, TV mounting from $99*, and it is best planned before the slat panels go up so the cables and the mount sit where you want them.
I rent or live in a condo. Can I make an accent wall?
Check your lease or association rules first: paint usually has to be restored when you move out, and a fixed slat wall may need approval. We can paint the wall back later through the same booking.
